How are COVID-19 vaccinations progressing in Rovaniemi?

3/2/2021 11:00 AM

Rovaniemi adheres to the national recommendations regarding COVID-19 vaccinations. A common order of vaccination has been agreed upon in Finland. The first persons to be vaccinated are those with the highest risk of getting ill, as well as social and healthcare workers working on COVID-19-related duties.

Varying amounts of vaccines are available in Rovaniemi. Vaccination appointments are made available according to the number of vaccines the city has at its disposal.

The vaccination of people aged over 80 and healthcare personnel was started in January. In February, vaccination is expanded to people aged 50–69 and those in the first risk group, and the vaccination of people aged 78 or over is continued.

In addition, the vaccination order is affected by the vaccines available. People under 70 years of age are given the Astra Zeneca vaccine, while people aged 70 or over are given the Pfizer, Biontech and Moderna vaccines. Therefore, people in the risk groups and the elderly are vaccinated in different orders.

Vaccination point at the city hall

The Rovaniemi vaccination point is located at the city hall at the address Hallituskatu 7. Vaccination is available by appointment only. The appointments are booked via an online system. (Link at the end of the text.)

We ask for everyone to patiently wait for their turn to get the vaccine. Everyone residing in Finland will get the vaccination in turn. We must first make sure that those with the highest risk of infection will get their own vaccines.

Persons who can now book a vaccination appointment

People in risk group 1 are prioritised in Lapland because there are more people in the group than the available quantity of vaccines in the coming weeks.
