Rovaniemi Immigration Office
The Rovaniemi Immigration Office provides support for integration, prevents marginalisation and aims to increase equality and understanding among different ethnic and cultural groups in Rovaniemi. The Immigration Office draws up integration plans and guides to services. It also provides information and advice as well as various social services for immigrants. The Immigration Office also organises language interpreting services and training where necessary. The Immigration Office works together with other official agencies and organisations.

Local register office
People living in Finland for over a year are registered in the national Population Information System. The local register office handles this registration. Citizens of EU Member States must bring their passport or an official photo ID and official registration certificate as an EU resident. People from outside the EU must have a valid travel document and residence permit. Other documents that may be required for registration include legalised marriage certificates and children's birth certificates.

EED Office
If you are looking for work in Rovaniemi, it's worth contacting the Employment and Economic Development Office (EED Office). The EED Office can give you information on orientation and Finnish language classes for new residents, as well as providing details of jobs and vocational training opportunities, the labour market and various careers. Kela - The Social Insurance Institution of Finland
Kela provides financial support to people in various situations. People moving to Finland permanently generally become part of the Finnish social welfare system and can receive benefits from Kela from the time they come to this country. A residence permit of at least one year is required in order to receive benefits.

Social Service Help Centre/The adult social work service for young people and adults
The immigration Office is one part of the Social Service Centre. Other social services available include adult social work, income support, employment services and services for people with physical and mental disabilities. Services for families include day care, family counselling centres and child protection.

A multicultural meeting place MoniNet
MoniNet is a multicultural centre where people can use the internet, meet and get advice and assistance for various situations and problems. MoniNet offers information and services for people, groups and organisations who deal with immigrants in their work as well as employers, students, volunteers, and others interested in multiculturalism. You will find plenty of useful information and links on the MoniNet website.

The Verso Partnership Project
The Verso project provides support for new immigrants settling in the area, including Finnish language instruction and service guidance helping to develop skills to cope in society and early settling process (for example to find jobs or suitable courses). The project also organises activities for people who are not in the workforce (housewives, young people, the eldery and disabled people). The Verso project is a partnership project between the Immigration Office and MoniNet.

Home Buddies
Home Buddies are volunteers who help new immigrants get acquainted with life in Finland while learning about new cultures themselves. If you are interested in volunteering for the Home Buddies programme or finding out more about it, please contact: tel. +358 (0)40 351 6925, +358 (0)400 695 037.
