A self-service library is equipped with a system that allows you to use the library even when staff is not present. These libraries are accessible outside normal opening hours.

During self-service hours, there is no staff available, and the premises are monitored electronically, for example with surveillance cameras. In a self-service library, you can borrow, return, and renew items, use public computers, read newspapers, or work. You also have access to the library's wireless network.

User instructions

You can get a Lapland Libraries library card from any Lapland Libraries location by presenting valid identification. Children under the age of 15 need guardian consent to receive a library card.

To who and with what terms

To use a self-service library, you need a Lapland Libraries library card and a PIN code linked to the card. Children under 15 need guardian permission to use self-service libraries.
