Home-Based Childcare

A home-based childcare group can include a maximum of four full-time children and one part-time pre-primary child at the same time. The count of children also includes the caregiver’s own children under school age.

A child can attend early childhood education and care in a municipal family daycare or in a private home-based childcare approved by the City of Rovaniemi using a service voucher.

A backup care place is arranged for the child at a nearby daycare centre, which can be used when the caregiver is absent. If the guardians agree to arrange backup care themselves according to the agreement, the agreed days are credited in the client fee.

The child’s early childhood education plan is made together with the parents/guardians, the family day-carer, and, if necessary, other cooperation partners. The supervisor of the home-based childcare supports the preparation of the early childhood education plan.

In home-based childcare the City of Rovaniemi’s early childhood education menu is followed where applicable. Special diets are provided based on a doctor’s and/or public health nurse’s certificate.
