Information about service

Applying for after-school activities

  • Service Coordination helps with applying for a place in after-school activities.
  • Applications for after-school activities are sent through the electronic application service.
  • In the application, you can choose when you would like your child to start after-school activities.
  • You can also apply for after-school activities during the school term.

Cancelling an after-school activities place

  • Please notify the service coordination of the cancellation by email at koulutuspalvelut.palveluohjaus@rovaniemi.fi
  • The notice period is one (1) month. For example, if you want the after-school activities place to end at the beginning of January, you must submit the cancellation during November. An after-school activities place always ends at the end of a month.

Morning and afternoon activities are intended for grade 1 and 2 pupils and pupils receiving special-needs support in all grades.

You must apply for after-school activities separately for each school year.

If it is not possible to offer a place to all applicants, priority is given to first-grade pupils.

The decision on admission to afternoon activities is made by the service coordinator for education services.

If you receive a negative decision, you may choose to join a waiting list for a place that may become available later. The decision includes instructions on how to join the waiting list.

You can join the waiting list by email or by phone. A uniform procedure defined by law is applied to those on the waiting list.

The fee for afternoon activities is 120€ per month.

The fees are charged monthly by the service provider. The fee is the same amount for each month of the school year.

A discount or exemption from the fee can only be granted based on a valid social assistance decision, a statement from social services, or a statement from the immigration authorities. The statement must be attached to the application.

Grade 1 and 2 pupils as well as pupils receiving special-needs support in all grades may apply for morning and afternoon activities in basic education. Morning and afternoon activities can be provided on working days mainly between 7.00 and 17.00.

The objective of the activities is to support children’s growth and development, promote their well-being and equality, prevent exclusion and reinforce inclusion.

The municipality is responsible for the morning and afternoon activities as a whole. It may organise the activities itself or together with other municipalities, or outsource the services to NGOs, communities and companies. The monthly fees collected for morning and afternoon activities are at the discretion of the municipality. However, the municipality has no obligation to organise these activities.

The school’s club activities or basic education in the arts may also be a child’s morning or afternoon activities.

The municipality and the wellbeing services county organise morning and afternoon activities for children with disabilities as interface cooperation.
