Founded in 1908, Lyseonpuisto is the oldest upper secondary school in northern Lapland. It is located in central Rovaniemi, with good public transport connections. The school focuses on arts and international education. In addition to the general programme, students can apply to the visual arts programme or the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. Adult education is also provided at the same premises.
Lyseonpuiston Upper Secondary School offers a wide range of courses and supports student wellbeing. As a UNESCO school, it promotes international understanding and interaction, while also valuing local culture and traditions. Visual Arts Programme:
This programme provides strong preparation for further studies in the arts and fosters appreciation of creativity. Students complete 14 courses covering various techniques such as painting, video, and animation. The programme includes two art history courses and culminates in the national visual arts diploma. Students apply through the national application system and an entrance exam.
IB Programme:
The International Baccalaureate (IB) is a two-year international upper secondary programme taught mainly in English. It leads to the globally recognised IB Diploma. Students first complete a preparatory year, during which they study courses equivalent to the first year of Finnish upper secondary education. Some of the courses are taught via video link from Oulu. Students apply to the IB programme through the national application system.
