Summer jobs
The City of Rovaniemi helps local young people find summer jobs. To support employment during the summer, the city offers a Summer Job Grant, which makes it easier for young people to get hired. The grant can be provided either as a Summer Job Voucher or as a summer job within one of the city’s units.
The Summer Job Voucher is a grant for young people to make it easier to find a summer job. With the voucher, the city reimburses the employer for 80% of your gross salary, up to a maximum of 300 €.
The voucher will be sent by email to the young person who applied for it. The young person then forwards the email or a screenshot to the employer as proof that the voucher has been granted. Each person can use the voucher for one summer job during the summer. The use of vouchers is monitored.

Another form of the Summer Job Grant is a summer job with the city. This means that various city services offer summer positions for either 2 weeks or 4 weeks. Young people eligible for the grant can apply for the positions they are interested in. Selections for summer jobs are made, for example, by lottery or through interviews.

The City of Rovaniemi offers a variety of summer jobs for the upcoming season. At Youth Services (Monde), the regional museum of Lapland, the Cultural Services, Ounasjoki Daycare, and the Rovaniemi Art Museum, it is possible to complete your summer work period in English.

You can read about the available positions in Finnish via the link below.

The application period for the Summer Job Grant takes place every year in February. Young people eligible for the grant are those who turn 16, 17 or 18 years old during the application year.

Applications are submitted online through Kuntarekry website. Each applicant can apply for only one type of support – either a Summer Job Voucher or a summer job within a city unit.

To fill in the application form, the applicant must have a Finnish personal identity code. If you do not have one, you will need to verify your age by visiting the Employment Services office and bringing a document that proves your age.

The Summer Job Voucher is a support provided by the City of Rovaniemi to cover part of the wage costs for a summer employee. The value of the voucher is 80% of the gross salary paid to the young person, up to a maximum of 300 €.

The voucher is sent to the young person by email in the spring. When preparing the employment contract, please check with the young person that they have received the voucher by email.

After the summer job is completed, you must submit the young person’s details, the payslip, and the signed employment contract to the City of Rovaniemi via the electronic service form. The electronic service form is available only in Finnish. If you have any difficulties filling out the form, please don’t hesitate to ask for help from employment services. Once the form is received, Employment Services will verify that the young person has been granted the voucher.
